This is by far the worst reel I have ever used. It don't matter what size line you use, upwind, downwind, light weight, heavy weight you're going to be riping away at backlash most of the time.

This reel locks up when casting. I've had it lock up and pull right out of my hands. I have two of them and they both do the same thing. I took one back and swapped it to see if it was just that reel. It wasn't, all three locked up. It they were not hooked to a nice rod they would be in the bottom of the lake.

I purchased a 2005lp in 07 and it has not been what I expected from Abu-Garcia! It is prone to backlash due to it's inferior design ( braking system).. Looks good.. performs terrible!!

I fish. A lot! These reels are only designed for the occasional fisherman. Inferior parts wear out quickly. Having to take the cover off to adjust the break is annoying. This was built to sell, not use.

Smooth Reel, 2006-06-28

Saw this reel on sale and couldn't pass it up, very solid feel,high quality build for price, click star drag is very nice, very smooth reel although I have not quite found the "meca" casting setting between the mag brake and spool brake settings. Some sites state "centrifugal" brake while others state "magnetic" brake, not postive which one it has. To change this setting you have to remove the left side plate and adjust a small dial, fairly simple process but I would have rather had an outside dial setting like my other Garcia reels. Not sure why but it appears this reel may be hard to find, overall it is a very nice low profile reel, all ready caught three bass around 5 lbs and this reel handled them very nicely.

I fell in love with this when I first held 'er.
EVERYTHING/every feature on this reel works wonderfully. Of course, I am an ABU-through & through & always will be.
