5 Stars Cabela's Daiwa Laguna, 2006-04-10

Cabela's Tournament ZX 2000 - It's basically a Daiwa Laguna with a pearl white finish and a better handle knob.
I can't explain it, but this reel is silky smooth. It's smoother than my Daiwa Capricorn 2000. The handle has a soft rubber knob which is different from the Daiwas. Mainly the changes Cabela's made were cosmetic.
I've been using this reel for 2 years now and have not had any problems with it. The wide ABS spool is smooth casting. I have mine paired with a Cabelas TXS 6' Medium Light action rod. I use it to tackle medium sized hybrid/striped bass and occasional crappie bobber fishing (but I never put my reel down to scratch it). The reel is extremely smooth during retrieves. Twistbuster works because I hardly get line twists.
It features the Hardbodyz aluminum body. All warranties and repairs are sent to daiwa. It sports 8 stainless steel ball bearings. It has an excellent drag system to cope with those hard charging stripers. I also like the way the drag sounds when it's letting line out.
I would highly recommend this reel or the Laguna.

Another great Daiwa spinning reel. I use this for both freshwater and saltwater...! For those looking for something a little nicer than the Samurai, but don't wanna go near the $100 plus dollar Capricorn range...

5 Stars Nice Reel for Sure..., 2005-03-14

I've had the Daiwa Laguna 1500 size reel for just over a year and have enjoyed it. The drag is very smooth, probably this reel's best feature. The price is about right for what you get, I wouldn't say its a deal for the price as comparable reels from Okuma or Shimano offer similar performance for a similar or even cheaper price tag. The 1500 size reel fishes 4lb the best, 3lb at the lightest.

I use a 2500 series for my light surf fishing. Silky smooth drags and priced right.

I like this reel because its smooth and strong. It can be had at a good price too. I've had Shimano reels of this price and the Daiwas seem to be tougher. The drag seems to be better too. I recommend this reel.
