A great reel for the lite surf fisherman. At 10 ozs., it's just a bit heavy. It does have 10 bearings, which make it a very smooth operating reel. The reel is equiped with adequate drag washers.

I purchased the Gold Medalist Pro with spare spool included...for around 40.00 at Dick's Sporting Goods....I have not been disappointed so far....I am a Master Maine Guide and expect a lot from my reels...The titanium line roller works well and the 8 stainless steel bearings give a nice feel...add to that the 6 disc drag system and ya have a REEl NICE setup.....

I have had a gold medalist for about 8 months now. Basicly I have found it to be a solid reel. It reels smooth and has good drag and anti reverse. The only problem I have had is with the bail, sometimes it wont flip back over so great when you turn the handle I would say this happens 2 times out of 10. I didnt start having this problem until I had the reel for about 6 months. For the money its worth it.
