The Facts: The Accurate Boss Magnum Twindrag reel features a dry AccuDrag system, which utilizes two titanium friction washers applying an equal amount of pressure from both sides. i cant say that i am a pro in fishing but i like and have been fishing for a long time.Bottom fishing for Groupers and snappers guys who do this know what i am talking about.Anyways cutting a long story short i was shopping for a reel that is not to big in size and have the power to reel in the big ones. The guy at bass pro asked me this question ."Is money an issue?"and i told him NO not within reason of course.Next thing i was looking at was the accurate 600N Boss Extreme2 .Wow after the first time using it i have only one thing to say Amazing.....Its so good that almost takes the Fun out of fighting the fish .I dont think there is anything quite like this on the market at least i have to use it to belive it. great reels Accurate cant wait to go fishing again.

The 665HXM. When fishing jigs for wahoo the handle stripped off
the bridge post on 2 different reels. We were fishing 50# line and a
FIRM drag. NOTE to Accurate: Please fix this design defect on your
new and existing reels.

I bought the 197 about 6 years ago. It is amazing that fish seems to loose muscle when caught with this reel. The reel has 200 yards of 30# spectra with about 50 yards of 30# mono. This set up caught albacore (up to 40#), yellowfin, yellowtail and plenty of calicos. I have so much confident on the drag system that it is normally set at 12# of drag from tip of the rod. Drag do not jerk on start up and provide even pressure. Some reels loose drag pressure on a fast running fish but not the Accurate, it is very consistent. When those big fish start to bulldog and seem to get tired, I'll just place my drag on full and crank them in. I've tried my friends Avet and it is an excellent reel but not better than accurate. For the money, I will still buy the 197 over Avet, Shimano or Daiwa, it is that good. And with new cast control, it's just too easy of a choice.
probably THE best reel i own, 2005-02-17

good:
excellent drag power and smoothness. good castability (as long as youre not trying to win a surf fishing distance competition). great cranking power. great line capacity when using spectra as a backing under 50yds of mono. all aircraft alluminum construction. MADE IN THE USA.
bad:
price. i own the 870 and it retails for over $400. now thats a lot to pay for almost ANYTHING. handle ergonomics. it can be improved, and with a price tag like that you would expect the best ergonomics to be standard on all their reels, rather than being an upgrade.
conclusion:
i really cant say anything bad about these reels. they are built to work and they will work for you. i just wish they were a little more afordable. but when i do come across the money needed, i will be upgrading my arsenal to accurates. a 197 w/ 15lb test for calico bass, a 270 w/ 20-25lb test for the san diego/mexico inshore species, and my 870 w/ 30-40lb test for the bigger offshore stuff.
bottom line: if you have the money, this reel is ALMOST worth every penny. but once you own it you wont be sorry.
