I have had this PTI-10 reel for a few years now. While in Idaho I hooked into a 3' sturgeon while trying out some braided line in the mighty Snake river and I have to swear the only way i landed it was due to the drag on this reel!(that and my running abilities up and down the boulder strewn river!LOL)EXCELLENT drag, smoothe as can be,looks cool(even to the fish)though the finish actually does resist abrasions..i know this for a fact! After my 45 minute ordeal along the snake river i decided to purchase another energy PTI only larger along with a stronger rod too.I use this set up when i am fishing for sturgeon when in Idaho or on the coast going for blues and stripers. I'd recommend these reels to anybody! $130 sounds like alot to some but when you're eyeing a $300 or even $600 reel this one will do it all just as well as those uber expensive ones.
My complaints.....
No spare spool GRRR that irks me!
Would be nice to have a wider spool and titanium nitride coating on the spool lip though it makes little difference as i can cast a 1/64 oz lure further then most can cast a 1/8th oz lure with 4# test.

The GOODS: The reel looks really nice and the slim profile does add functionality by making the reel lighter. The unique feature that sets this reel apart is the magnetic bail which will last forever. The ball bearing on the handle knob makes cranking under load a bit smoother and more enjoyable. Though small in size, this reel will hold plenty of line for the light line enthusiast(such as myself). The drag performs almost flawlessly.
The BADS: Though rich in feature this reel is not nearly as perfect as most may think. The main drawback of the reel is the line lay oscilation system. At a price tag of $139.99 you would think that this was the last problem you would encounter especially when the company puts so much pride in their "LMS" or "Line Management System". The line does not lay evenly on the spool. Line tends to be more stacked near the top of the spool and this can cause nasty air knots. I was hoping this problem would have been adressed with the new revision, but it hasn't. The other feature I would've liked this reel to have is a titanium spool lip. Many reels in this price range and many others that are far less costly have this feature. Last but not least is the sound of the drag. The drag sounds more "toyish" when it should sound more "refined" (just my personal feeling, definitely doesn't effect the way the reel works).
So I would say to Quantum, fix the line lay to allow line to come on the spool evenly and add a titanium coated spool lip and you've got yourselves a reel winner!!!

I have been a diehard Team Diawa man for as long as I can remember. Till I ran into the quantum energy online. I had to get one, the ceramic drag got my attention, not to mention the magnetic titanium bail, there is nothing to break on this reel and as far as performance, It is what fishing dreams are made of, you will have to try it to believe it. It cast blows away my previous diwa reels and it gets the attention it deserves just by its looks, It has pti (performance tuned) written all over it. I threaded my energy with 4lb berkley vanish, and me and a buddy went fishing, I showed him what the big boys fished with and out fished him 13 bluedgill to his 6. All I can say is stop being a follower and believing all the shimano and diwa hype, be a real "fisherman" and go break your bank and get this reel if you have to cause it is the hottest thing to hit fishing...

Check out the wicked finish. My buds freaked out when they saw me with this reel. Real unique looking. I got it for around $120 and I must say that I'm impressed with the quality of this reel. It feels sturdy and it's really smooth. 10 ball bearings in this sucker! I've seen some other reels with that many bearings but heavy. The Energy is as light as some 2 ball bearing reels that I own. I want another one. The only negative thing that I can say about this reel is that the drag clicker seems a bit toyish. Not as smooth as a Daiwa for example. But the drag itself is smooth even if it does'nt sound like it.
