The Facts: The D.O.A. 8" Big Fish Lure is a very natural looking bait that resembles mullet and other baitfish. The action on the lure provides a very realistic swim that can trigger strikes from all types of game fish. The lure comes with a single treble hook (3x black-nickel VMC) and 300lb wire that runs through the body. Mark Nichols has said to have worked on this mullet imitation lure for more than a decade before it's release. It is currently available in the following colors: Pearl / Red Head, Trout, Bass, Hot Spot, Original.

We fish these lures when we can't get live mullet and they do well for various species including bluefish, big jacks, tarpon, and snook.
Tarpon Candy, Watch Your Drag, 2010-05-18

A friend of mine bought this lure as we were having quite the success fishing live mullet for tarpon. With little time to catch bait, we decided to switch to lures and the D.O.A. Big Fish Lure caught our eye. We deployed the bait out a spot in Miami, FL where we have caught tarpon before. Within minutes we had our first bite while letting the bait out! Reset and within a few more minutes had another fish on around 80lbs. Now we fish A LOT of drag on the hookup with live bait, so we did the same with this lure and actually had the fish destroy it. Not sure if the lure is flawed for heavy drag or if that was just a fluke, but we talked to a guy at Bass Pro Shops who had a similar issue and guided us on how to re-rig it to make it stronger for heavy drag. I'm going to try it again with a bit of a lighter drag setting and see what happens. If it breaks again I will call D.O.A. and make them aware of it although I'm sure they know. Otherwise I am very impressed with how this lure swims and how it looks exactly like a mullet from the top and bottom. I would give it 5 stars if it didn't have the issue on the first try, but I'm hoping it was just a fluke...
